Brandon Allen is off to a fast start for the Arizona Diamondbacks
24-year old righty swinging Brandon Allen will likely get most of the starts in LF the rest of the year for the D-Backs. He went 2 for 3 with 1 run scored, 1 homer and 4 RBIs in his season debut against the Padres last night. Allen hit a grand slam off of Luke Gregerson who is one of the better relievers in all of baseball. Allen played in 107 games in AAA-ball this year and he was 97 of 371 (.261 avg, .933 OPS) with 72 runs scored, 25 homers, 86 RBIs and 14 stolen bases. The D-Backs hope that Allen finishes strongly because he didn’t look good in his first taste of the majors in 2009. He played in 32 games for the D-Backs last year and he was 21 of 104 (.202 avg, .669 OPS) with 13 runs scored, 4 homers, 14 RBIs and 40 whiffs.
