The Arizona Diamondbacks release Bobby Crosby
The Diamondbacks have released 30-year old righty swinging infielder Bobby Crosby. Crosby played in 9 games for the D-Backs this year and he was 2 of 12 (.167 avg, .548 OPS) with 2 RBI. He has played in 70 games overall for the Pirates & D-Backs this year and he was 37 of 168 (.220 avg, .592 OPS) with 9 runs scored, 1 homer and 13 RBIs. The D-Backs have recalled 29-year old righty swinging infielder Ryan Roberts to replace Crosby on the active roster. Roberts played in 12 games earlier this year for the D-Backs and he was 3 of 17 (.176 avg, .412 OPS) with 1 run scored and 3 RBIs. Roberts played well for the D-Backs last season (his first with the team) appearing in 110 games in which he was 85 of 305 (.279 avg, .783 OPS) with 41 runs scored, 7 homers, 25 RBIs and 7 stolen bases. I have a feeling that Roberts will be a nice improvement over Crosby the rest of the way for the D-Backs.
