The Arizona Diamondbacks have signed 37-year old lefty Mike Hampton with the idea of converting him to relief. Hampton pitched in 21 games (all starts) for the Astros last year and he was 7-10 with a 5.30 ERA and a 1.55 WHIP. He has now pitched in 409 games (355 starts) in his 15 years in the majors and he is 148-115 with 1 save, a 4.07 ERA and a 1.44 WHIP. The D-Backs will have Hampton pitch in AAA and give him a promotion in September if he looks good.
