The Arizona Diamondbacks trade Chad Qualls to the Rays
The Diamondbacks have traded 31-year old righty reliever Chad Qualls to the Rays for a player to be named later. Qualls pitched in 43 games for the D-Backs this season out of the pen and he was 1-4 with 12 saves, a 8.29 ERA and a 2.00 WHIP. He gave up a stunning 61 hits in only 38 innings this year for the D-Backs. Qualls pitched three years for the D-Backs working in 171 games (0 starts) in which he was 7-14 with 45 saves, a 4.34 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP. Qualls finishes his career with the D-Backs #10 in games pitched (171) and #4 in saves (45) in team history. The Rays will pick up the rest of Qualls’ salary this season so don’t expect the player to be named later to be a impact player.
