The D-Backs have traded 23-year old righty starting pitcher Brooks Brown to the Tigers for the right to keep 23-year old lefty swinging catcher James Skelton. Skelton had a poor spring for the D-Backs but they still liked his potential as he is the #27 ranked prospect in their minor league system according to Baseball America. Skelton played in 87 games in A+AA ball last season and he was 90 for 297 (.303 avg, .857 OPS) with 65 runs scored, 5 homers, 34 RBIs and 15 stolen bases. Because of his bad spring the D-Backs got a good deal because Brooks Brown doesn’t have much of an upside. Brown pitched in 26 games (all starts) last season in AA-ball and he was 6-15 with a 4.18 ERA and a 1.52 WHIP.
