Brandon Webb is the silent assassin for the Arizona Diamondbacks

Brandon Webb goes about his business without the spotlight but he deserves to be in one. He has turned into the ace for the D-Backs as he has pitched in 164 games (163 starts) in his career and he’s 65-55 with a 3.22 ERA and a 1.25 WHIP. He has worked 1,089 innings for the Diamondbacks and he has only allowed 988 hits, walked 368 batters and whiffed 880. He had control issues early in his career but he’s tightened that up and has become a much better pitcher. Look for him to continue contending for the Cy Young Award for the next few seasons.

It’s time for the D-Backs to press the panic button after tonight’s loss.  The Rockies just couldn’t get any offense going and that doomed them on Sunday Night.  Stephen Drew was a solid 2 for 4 and Mark Reynolds cracked a solo homer off of Josh Fogg in the 4th inning.  But that was the extent of the offense in this game.

Livan Hernandez was matching Josh Fogg pitch for pitch until the 6th inning when Yorvit Torrealba jacked a 3-run homer off of him.  Hernandez was the losing pitcher as he worked 5.2 innings and he allowed 8 hits, 4 earned runs, walked 2 batters and whiffed 4.  The D-Backs are now down 3-0 to the Rockies and will need a miracle to win this series.

Colorado Rockies 3, Arizona Diamondbacks 2

The Diamondbacks lost a tough game last night at home to the Rockies in 11 innings.  The fact that the Rockies beat closer Jose Valverde has to hurt the psyche of the team as he has been invincible so far in the post season.  He worked 1.2 innings last night and he allowed 1 hit, 1 earned run, walked 3 batters (one with the bases loaded in the 11th) and whiffed 2.  He was the losing pitcher.  It’s a shame that the D-Backs wasted such solid pitching last night.  Starter Doug Davis worked the first 5 innings and he allowed 5 hits, 1 earned run, walked 4 batters and whiffed 5.  He also was 1 for 1 with a double and a run scored.  Juan Cruz, Tony Pena and Brandon Lyon worked the next four innings and they allowed only 1 hit and whiffed 5 without allowing a run.

The hitters didn’t have much luck against the Rockies pitching staff.  Chris Young was 1 for 4 with 1 run scored and 1 RBI.  Eric Byrnes was 1 for 5 with 1 RBI which tied the game in the bottom of the 9th inning.  Tony Clark also had a nice game as he was 2 for 4.  The D-Backs are now down 2-0 to the Rockies as the series shifts to Coors Field.

The Diamondbacks looked like the Bad News Bears last night.  In fact the last out of the game was recorded by the Rockies because pinch hitter Miguel Montero was thrown out over sliding 2B after he had a nice hit.  Eric Byrnes had a solid game as he was 2 for 4 with 1 RBI.  Conor Jackson was 1 for 4 but he made a key error that cost the D-Backs and unearned run.  Brandon Webb got pushed around by the Rockies again as he was the losing pitcher.  He worked 6 innings and he allowed 7 hits, 4 earned runs, walked 2 batters and whiffed 4.  4 relievers did a good job keeping the game close for the D-Backs as they worked 3 innings and allowed 1 hit, 0 earned runs, walked 2 batters and whiffed 6.  The Diamondbacks are now down 1-0 in this series against the Rockies.

DBacks Should be ashamed of their fans

The only thing worse than that ugly interference play at 2nd is the way your stupid fans reacted. You should all be ashamed of your behaviour. Cheating and complaining are not the trademarks of winners.
