The Arizona Diamondbacks’ rotation is living up to the high expectations

The Diamondbacks felt that they would have one of the best starting rotations in major league baseball and they have been right so far his season and it’s a big reason why they are tied for first place in the NL West.  Livan Hernandez, Brandon Webb and Doug Davis have been pretty good all season long for the D-Backs.  Randy Johnson began the season on the DL and now he’s returning to form as he’s been dominating as of late.  Rookie Micah Owings replaced Johnson while he was injured and he’s never looked back as he rounds out the D-Backs great rotation.  These five guys have a combined record of 21-15 with a 3.51 ERA and a 1.37 WHIP.   They also have whiffed 255 batters in 326 innings this season.  If the Diamondbacks start to hit the ball they will win a ton of games because of their starting rotation.

When Chad Tracy went down to injury, the D-Backs looked like they might be in some trouble.  But, rookie Mark Reynolds has been killing the baseball so far this season.  In 17 games with the Diamondbacks, Reynolds is 24 for 62 (.387 avg, 1.169 OPS) with 13 runs scored, 4 homers and 15 RBIs.  The Diamondbacks may have to consider moving Tracy to another position when he’s ready to come off of the disabled list if Reynolds keeps hitting the baseball the way he is right now.
